Staffing Goals for 2010:
In the upcoming year, it is my top priority to build upon our very talented staff of workers, bringing in new and experienced talent who are ready to take up my vision and boldly walk forward with it. The following outline will let you know of our position openings and a brief job description. For full details of the requirements as well as duties, please inquire about the position. My in-box awaits your email. Please note that at this time, we are not able to offer anyone financial compensation for their time and effort.

The following positions are voluntary positions. I am only looking for people who are good team players, have ambitions, drive, and are goal oriented. If you are buying what I am selling, and like what you see here at Eye of the Vortex, then let's talk about the future together. I promise you, it will be a bright one. 


  1. Business Manager  | The brains behind the money. This position is directly responsible for finding ways to market the company as well as sale of advertisements and other CV Newton Publishing products. The Business Manager reports directly to the President.

  2. Human Resources  | This position is the great recruiter. The company can only be as good as its weakest link. Therefore, Human Resources will ensure that our weakest link is strengthened by training and confidence reinforcing and will fortify the staff with new talent. Human Resources reports directly to the President.

  3. Public Relations | The Inbox. This person is the checkpoint for all correspondence going in or out of the company. All emails going out will be proof-read and all incoming email will be routed to the proper parties.

  4. Producer | Working directly under the President, the Producer has creative control over the website content and looks. (Not to be mistaken for the Web Admin's duties) He comes up with and coordinates all events, series, and anything that the reader may read or interact with. This position also maintains the schedule for publication. He is the link between the Editor-in-Chief and the Art Director.

  5. Editor-in-Chief | The leader of the publishing, editing and writing staffs and holder of all the standards with which all articles are written and edited and finally published. He takes the vision of the Producer and makes it come to life.

  6. Art Director | Works hand in hand with the Editor-in-Chief to establish the look of EoV. His duties include improving the visuals of the website, starting with the static images of the site and following through every illustration in every article. His primary role is to coordinate the illustrations with the Editor-in-Chief and delegate all image work through the Illustrators.

  7. Website Associate (x2) | Website Associate does the 'grunt' work of the website coding and maintenance. Website Associates report directly to the Website Admin.

  8. Publisher (x2) | This position is responsible for ensuring that all articles written are edited and illustrated to the Editor-in-Chief's standards. All articles are to be read for content and to be approved or rejected based on the best interest of CV Newton Publishing and all of its properties.

  9. Illustrator (x4) | General imagecrafters. These people will create the mind-blowing images that EoV will be known for. Whether it is making an image for the site, chopping up an image for article illustration, or generating new images for any number of things, the Illustrators will be a focal point when it comes to Eye of the Vortex.

  10. Editor (x4) | This position is designed to ensure that all articles that get to the Publisher are completely edited to the Editor-in-Chief's standards. No grammatical or contextual errors should ever reach the Publishers. They should be reading the article and clicking 'publish' or 'reject'. Poor articles should be filtered out completely while good articles that have errors are corrected.

  11. Writer (See quantity below) | Provide the lifeblood of the website. Writers for EoV are held to extremely high standards. The President began his career as a simple writer, therefore knows the importance of this position. Writers for EoV will find their own material, sometimes material will be provided too. The material will be researched, proof-read, and submitted to the editing staff. Writers are required to become 'local celebrities', meaning, become famous in your own community. You can do this by getting involved with your readers, begins communicating in the forums that your community participates in most, create a Twitter account and begin building a following, etc. The bigger you get, the bigger EoV will get, the more our ad space value becomes, etc.

Staffing Targets:
The following are the targets that I have set in place for the staff to meet by December of 2010. These goals are very achievable, but will require a lot of hard work and dedication from a lot of people. In fact, it will require hard work from people who are not currently members of this staff yet. That means that we need you in order to accomplish our goals!

  • A. Increase our monthly reader-base to 10,000 unique views. (Ending 2009 at 4,876)
  • B. Increase our visits/visitor average to 5.0. (Ending 2009 at 1.89)
  • C. Receive exclusive spoiler cards from Wizards of the Coast for MTG. (Ending 2009 with only pooled spoilers)
  • D. Average (7) article publications per week. (Ending 2009 at approx. (3) per week).
