TTGs Can Be Fun

It's kind of surprising for myself to consider a Table Top Game fun. I always didn't like the idea of them because of all the setup involved, but once they are setup they are tons of fun to play.

Do you guys think that Table Top Games take a lot of setup?
Do you know any games that require little setup, but are fun to play?

I think they definitely do. They take me a while to setup, but it doesn't bother me. They are worth the setup for all the fun I get out of them.

I just got back from playing 3 games:

Ghost Stories - 4 min setup, hour to play. 4 players and fun as hell.
Race For The Galaxy - 5 min setup, 20-40 minutes to play. 4 players and fun as hell.
Agricola - 10 minutes to setup, 2 hours to play, 5 players and pretty fun, but HARD.

Tabletop games rock because of the interaction. Playing online games isn't near as much fun, although I like that too, but it's great to see your buddy's face when you **** him stupid with a move. Can't do that on PS3 or X360!

Man, Ghost Stories and Race (both of which I like, BTW) get fun as hell while Agricola only gets pretty fun? Boo.

And yes, setup is annoying with some games (looking at you, Fantasy Flight), but a lot more people seem to be intentionally attempting to minimize setup time. Quite often, also, the more often you play a game, the more comfortable you'll get with setting it up, and the quicker it will go.

You guys forgot the part that drives me away from TTGs... the clean-up afterwards part. Nothing sucks worse than making sure all the Monopoly dollars are collected right, don't mix up the different cards, make sure the Deeds are facing the right way... wowzers! And don't be disorganized about your clean-up because all you are doing is increasing the next sessions set-up time while you get organized.
