Battle Spirits - Beasts on Patrol! -- Spoiler Series
SPOILER ALERT
I am taking a look at a White spell that enhances "Giant Beast" or "Armored Beast" spirits. The spell impacts both offense and defense and has an amazing effect!
Spoiler season is upon us once again, so I will be working hard to bring you coverage on every card in Set 4. That's right; I'm going to provide a review on absolutely every single card in Ascension of Dragons. It will be a lot of work, but I'm prepared for it. Are you ready to take on this arduous journey with me? I sure hope so, because I look forward to bringing you these previews and reading your comments.
Without further delay, on to the next wave of previews!
High Ether
Spells usually aren't exciting unless they are White. Has anyone else noticed that White has the majority of amazing spells? It must be part of their package deal when Fenrir Cannon originally signed on with Michael Elliott; yes, Fenrir Cannon represents all White spirits! This spell follows suit with the trend of great White spells as it has an amazing effect that resembles the Green spell Flock Recovery. Simply put, this spell is a re-hashed version of the spell only White. However, Flock Recovery is a spectacular card that White would want, so there shouldn't be any complaints. Let's take a look at the finer points of High Ether.
High Cost is Expected
Unlike most White spells, High Ether has a high cost and semi-low reduction cost; it has a cost of 5 that can be reduced to a cost of 3. Most White spells have a cost of 3 or 4 with a reduction cost of 2; therefore, a lot of them are able to attain a cost of 1 or 2. This certainly impacts how a White deck plays out as it is able to use a lot of cores that don't need to be wasted on spells. Despite this, High Ether's high cost is offset by its excellent effect; it allows you to refresh three spirits with the characteristic "Armored Beast" or "Giant Beast". The ability to refresh anything is great and any White player will tell you that they love Pure Elixir and White Potion; this is a testament to how good High Ether will be in a White deck.
Love those "Giant Beasts" & "Armored Beasts"
You have to love spirits with the characteristic "Giant Beast" and "Armored Beast"; most of them look simply awesome and they either have large battle points or great abilities. What’s not to like about them? I will name a few "Giant Beasts" and "Armored Beasts" to give you an idea of who you can use; The ExtremeShield Gran-Tortoise, Sealed Beast Marko and Elephantite are probably the only usable "Armored Beast" spirits right now; "Giant Beast" is a whole other story as your possibilities expand into The SeaCreature Dugong, Hercules-Geo, and The IceBeast Mam-Morl. I'm sure these two characteristics will only expand onto more spirits as the card pool increases. You can probably ascertain why that is a good thing; the more targets for High Ether there are, the less situational the card is and the better it becomes.
Conclusion
I am a huge fan of cards with abilities like High Ether and Flock Recovery; these cards work as both offense and defense yet they are essentially a subtle Silent Wall. Do you think of these type of cards in the same way that I do? I'm excited for more spirits with the characteristic "Giant Beast" and "Armored Beast"; they will certainly expand the arch-type, give it more options and allow it to enter competitive play. How many more sets do you think it will take before we see "Giant Beasts" or "Armored Beasts" in competitive play? I hope it will be soon as I get the feeling we will receive a couple more this set. I don't think it's out of the question that they will surface in competitive play once Set 4: Ascension of Dragons reaches the card pool.
