About Eye of the Vortex Editors



Eye of the Vortex has been designed to more fully reflect what we want to cover. Our publishing structure is focused on having several leaders, which we call Editors, head up the different genres and properly reflect what it is that those genres entail. Eye of the Vortex recognizes the following genres of gaming:
  • Collectible Card Games - Magic: the Gathering
  • Role-Playing Games
  • TableTop Boardgames
  • Video Games - NewsFLASH!
  • Movies & Anime
  • Comics & Manga
  • Books (Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror)
  • Geek Tech

Each of these genres will have an Editor and each Editor will head a group of 3-4 writers. In addition, EoV has a governing body called the Editor-in-Chief who presides over the Editors and organizes thier efforts.

A Little About Our Publication Staff

My role is that of Marketing and Content Manager. In the publishing side of EoV, I preside over the EiC and ensure quality. I also fill in as an editor when additional man-power is required. My primary role is to work with the EiC to develop the upcoming plan for the direction of the publication.

Editor-in-Chief -- Daniel Horowitz Email me!

My job is to develop and enforce the standards of excellence that the EoV Editors and Writers will be held too. I also develop the publication schedule and promote all of our content through the internet. My primary role, however, is to organize the Editors so that they can proper fuel the site and continue to bring you quality and entertaining content.

Collectible Card Game Editor -- Matt Viviani Email me!

Hello Readers, my name is Matt Viviani and I am the Lead Editor for Magic and CCG content on Eye of the Vortex. My job is to recruit and lead a team of three to four writers who will focus on CCGs but primarily Magic.

My primary focus here at Eye of the Vortex will be three-fold:
  • Magic’s Spoiler Season
  • Tournament Reports
  • Hot Topic Commentary

Eye of the Vortex primarily focuses on the Standard Format of Magic and sometimes on Draft. We focus on this format because we believe that the limited a card pool provides the most strategy and forces players to continually evolve and improve as new sets are released. Additionally, we have had very good success in the past covering Spoiler Season and since it is fun to do, we want to go over the top with it. My goal is that we will cover every card as they are released and boldly predict what it is that we believe the card will be used for in the future. So be sure to tune in as Spoiler Season unfolds so that we can keep you informed on the freshly released material.
